The Big Black Hole…Is No More

Tags: Candidate Experience

Candidates frequently complain about recruiters; never receiving a response post application, being lost into a black hole, and having a computer reading their CVs…

Despite the lack of common courtesy, if a company doesn’t have recruitment software, it’s understandable when a recruiter fails to let every single candidate know if they haven’t been successful for a job, in consideration of the hundreds of applications they receive on a daily basis. This doesn’t make it right however, this doesn’t make it ok for candidates to be left not knowing if they’re waiting for an interview call or whether they’ve just been discarded for the position. There can be detrimental damage to the company and the brand image as a result of a lack of communication.

With the talent acquisition process in mind and a recruitment system, there’s no black hole. Every candidate creates a profile and is tracked and engaged with throughout the entire hiring process. There can be multiple users managing the recruitment system, which is why interactions between candidates and recruiters can also be monitored. This allows for users to see how and when recruiters have engaged with applicants.

What candidates fail to understand is how an Applicant Tracking System actually helps them to secure employment. It might not be for the vacancy that they originally applied for, but alternative opportunities could be presented.

Recruitment technology is manipulated by the recruiter, not the other way around. It’s the recruiter who sets the parameters for the application searches, who spends the time locating the right talent with the right skills. The software saves everyone time, meaning that more can be spent on candidate engagement and finding the right vacancies to apply for.

In addition to this, a candidate profile is tagged with specific keywords or phrases. This then places the profile into specific talent pools increasing the likeliness of matching a candidate with a vacancy. A CV or profile is never thrown aside or left to sit in a black hole.

An Applicant Tracking System, makes recruitment fairer, decreasing the opportunity for discrimination and unconscious bias. Tribepad’s recruitment technology provides recruiters with the opportunity to implement blind recruitment, something our Canada clients are already using. Blind recruitment removes candidates names from profiles and applications, to ensure that individuals are judged based on their skills, experience and knowledge, not their name, race, or religion.
